EveningStorm -- new home!

Yes, you're seeing that right. Tortietude is no more. (Though I still have plenty of 'tude!) I finally got tired of the name and I'm still too lazy to install WordPress on a dedicated domain. So I'm going to start over with a new LiveJournal. Be sure to visit me at EveningStorm! In case you're wondering, yes, of course I'm still a cat person. But I was kind of tired of all the cat-themed names so I went with ES in honor of my weather geekness.

In case anyone's wondering about my personal life, my current train of thought is to re-enroll in school in the fall and get a degree in atmospheric science or meteorology. Yeah, that's a drastic change but I'm looking for some change in my life right now. I've got alimony money to pay for some tuition and I should be able to get grants and/or scholarships.

So ... visit me over at EveningStorm, add me as a friend if you were a friend here at Tortietude, and keep up with all the awesomeness that is my life now!

Re: Storm today
Hey Drew, you're like the only one who asked if everything is okay instead of whether I saw the tornado or not! But yeah, everything is fine. It was given an EF-2 rating, the path was 4.4 miles long, and 150 miles wide. The path was actually longer than that because, as the NWS report says, it "skipped along the treetops" for several more miles.

It was pretty obvious that it was in the air when it passed near me. I have some very minor damage like small tree limbs down and the power was out for a few hours. But I've seen worse from ordinary summer storms. But this was way more exciting than any ol' summer popup thunderstorm! It was such an amazing and surreal experience!

Re: Storm today
Erm, clearly I meant to say 150 YARDS wide in my previous reply. I didn't catch it and it's easier to add another reply than to go back and edit it. Oops!
